What People Are Saying
“Having worked directly with Katie Henderson for over eight years, I am excited to see her utilize her unique skill set to service the biotech IP community in this new capacity. With over eleven years experience in the industry, Katie was one of our top staff in charge of worldwide sequence listing compliance for our extensive client base during my ownership of Harbor Consulting IP Services, Inc. (“HCIP”). Katie’s exceptional attention to detail and strict time management skills also allowed her to perform and supervise numerous biosequence and text searches for patentability, FTO, and invalidity purposes. With the advent of WIPO ST.26 on the very near horizon, I strongly recommend SmartBased IP for your sequence listing compliance and IP search projects, as Katie is one of the most knowledgeable industry professionals in both areas.”
— James Coburn, Founder and former owner of HCIP.

I began SmartBased IP Services LLC to expand upon my previous experience supporting IP professionals in the biotechnology industry. Having completed thousands of Sequence Listings (many of which contained very complex disclosures) and dozens of biosequence and text searches over the past 11+ years, I plan to establish SmartBased IP Services LLC as your go to Sequence Listing and biosequence search boutique.
A New England native, I grew up in Vermont and attended the University of New Hampshire where I earned a bachelors degree in molecular, cellular and developmental biology. My strong foundation in science enables me to interpret even the most challenging sequence disclosures.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband, two young children and two beagles. Other things that make me smile: Coffee, Beaches, Travel, Disney, Cheese, Oversized sweaters.
